Last year, we decorated December with The Eight Days of Hometapes. Giving away a new holiday song each day, we ended up with a collection of music that stunned us in its beauty and simplicity. There’s something about songs that you pull out just once a year…music that is so closely attached to feelings, to memories, and even to the weather outside.
In these last days of 2010 — as we look at the records we’ve made, as we look at the lines on our faces, as we close our eyes and see a year like none before it — we can’t think of a better idea than to give these songs back to all of you. To light the tree again for a few more days. Introducing: I’ll Be Hometapes For Christmas.
But look closely: there are three shiny new ornaments. Beginning and ending the album are brand new tracks by Ormonde (who are joining the Hometapes family!) and Sunless (a.k.a. Hometapes co-founder Adam Heathcott). Nestled in the middle is Keith Sunset and “the sound of a dreidel, spinning endlessly inside of a dark (yet peaceful) space vortex.” Yes please.
